The United States District Court, Central District of California, invites teachers to participate in the 12th annual Federal Court Teachers’ Institute program. The program will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Room 1001 of the United States Courthouse located at 312 N. Spring Street in downtown Los Angeles. This year’s topic is “Cyberbullying: It Can End in Court,” and the program is intended to provide high school teachers with a foundation for discussing with their students how the legal system is involved in this evolving issue and the factors that are considered by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in deciding whether or not to prosecute such cases.

The interactive program will be hosted by the Honorable Consuelo B. Marshall, and will include presentations by attorney panelists, discussion sessions, and teacher debates. Question and answer sessions will be interspersed throughout the program, and written materials will be provided.

Please contact Pamela Gamble Jackson, the Court’s Event Coordinator, at 213-894-5708 if you are interested in attending and would like to bring a camera.

Teachers from 23 different high schools located within the Central District of California have already registered for this program. The District Court looks forward to presenting this educational and topically-relevant event.
