UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT
CENTRAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA
GROUNDHOG JOB SHADOW DAY AT THE FEDERAL COURTHOUSE
As part of its community outreach, the district court is hosting its second annual Groundhog Job Shadow Day on February 4, 2005, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. From 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., the court will sponsor a lunch for all participants so that everyone can share their experiences. The Western Division has been paired with Arroyo Pacific Academy in Arcardia.
Groundhog Job Shadow Day (which kicks off in early February, hence the name) is dedicated to giving teenagers across America job shadowing experiences. It enables one student to follow a workplace mentor as he or she goes through a normal day on the job, providing an up-close look at how the skills learned in school are put into action in the workplace. Sponsored by Junior Achievement of Southern California, the goal is to provide students across America some exclusive time in a workplace that is educational, inspiring and enjoyable.
The response from court employees is very positive. Employee participation is varied and includes various courtroom staff, civil intake clerks, and IT personnel.
